| Top European vacation area the Spanish Balearic Islands are a collection of islands located in the Mediterranean, and each of the islands offers a different experience for holidaymakers of all nationalities and ages looking to get away for a week or two this summer. The largest island is Majorca is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world. The other islands, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera are becoming increasingly popular for various reasons. Several very small islands that are sparsely inhabited, if at all, add to the beauty of the landscape and horizon. Family Friendly Vacation on Menorca or Majorca Planning the perfect island holiday can be a daunting task, especially when children are involved. Family holidays are a very important part of life for millions of families worldwide. Majorca's beaches are some of the highest ranking beaches in the world. Some are long stretches of white sand beaches while others are tan or darker sands. All of Majorca's beaches are immaculately clean and perfect for family beach holidays. Majorca is also great for families because of the good number of amusement parks on the island. Aqualandia El Foro de Mallorca in Palma is a water park with mini golf and a very nice wax museum. Aquapark is another water park with a water castle and go kart track that is generally enjoyed by all ages. Hydropark is a water park with a primary focus on the enjoyment of smaller children. Aquacity S'Arenal is one of the largest water parks in the world. It features several water rides, a parrot show, petting zoo and mini golf. The Auto Safari is another major attraction for families, especially those with young children. The tour showcases many animals including monkeys, giraffes and zebras while the mini zoo gives an up close view of baby animals and reptiles. Menorca offers a wide array of outdoor activities including horse riding, cycling and golf. Due to the year-round mild climate, golf is a much celebrated year-round sport. Club Son Parc is a large resort featuring a nine-hole golf course. This family friendly resort is home to the only official golf course on the island with a practice range and instructors for beginner golfers. In addition to land bound sports, water sports are a vivid part of any holiday in the Balearic Islands. Ibiza Beach Activities and Clubs Like the other islands, Ibiza offers a variety of resorts and activities for all ages. Some of the more popular activities include horseback riding, hiking, diving and snorkeling. Beach activities include sunbathing and the Ibiza weather while sipping your favourite drink or playing beach volleyball at any of several volleyball nets. Boating, sailing and fishing are very popular among the adult crowd of tourists to Ibiza. Eighty beaches and lots of clubs make Ibiza the central hub of excitement for party lovers. Several celebrities including Jade Jagger and Kate Moss enjoy the party scene at Ibiza's most popular clubs. The island of Ibiza is as family friendly as any of the other Balearic Islands but the primary focus for most tourists to Ibiza is the vivid night life. Most party goers enjoy late afternoon swimming and sunbathing, leaving most of the beaches much less crowded early in the day than the other islands. Most of Ibiza's beaches have full time lifeguards to help ensure the safety of all who enjoy a variety of water sports. Sport fishing is organized by several local agents and family owned businesses. Such fishing trips are often very productive and enjoyable, especially in groups, and help contribute to a great vacation. |
