Your Dog's Food May Be Stealing Their Health Away

Pet food corporations have some of the cutest commercials I have ever seen hands down. nnI was watching an older commercial of a popular brand and I couldn't help but enjoy it the whole way through. nnUnfortunately that commercial had nothing to do with the kibble but everything to do with the cuteness of dogs' noses.nnSo if these commercials have nothing to do with the food then how can we depend on them to give us with the best and healthiest choice of food for our dog?nnI know many people that go to the local department store and purchase the cheapest dog kibble the place sells. These people are not even reading the labels on their pets food. They have no clue what makes up the kibble but they trust that because it says 'pet food' on the outside that it is healthy for their dogs. nnI can't believe those people, some who have been close friends. Their only argument they have when I tell them their dog food is not healthy for their dog is, "it's just a dog".nnThen there are other people who see their dog as an real living being who they took responsibility for and who needs proper nutrition to stay alive. nnThese people tend to think they are doing the best for their dog by listening to their vet's advice, the pet stores advice, or even those funny commercials that they get sucked into and believe. nnIn reality the vet, pet store, and commercials are not always right. Many of these foods can make your pet unhealthy. Actually a lot of these foods don't even provide very good nutrition for your dog at all. But you can't understand that unless you check out the ingredients and learn what they really mean and what they do to or for your pet.nnThere are also the people that do read the ingredients while picking out a dog food. Some of these people know what the ingredients are and what they really mean but there are also some people who know what most of the ingredients are but don't understand what they can give their dog in the way of nutrition. nnFor example corn is a big ingredient in a lot of dog kibble but does corn really offer your pet actual nutrition or is it just filler that's used to save the pet company money? Corn may sound healthy to you but is it healthy for your dog?nnThe first ingredient is the largest mass of your dogs pet food. Should corn be the first ingredient or should it be meat? It's really not hard to know the right answer. Canines need meat not corn. nnThe following piece of information is taken straight off of the fda.gov site in the animal and veterinary news and events section. nn'The low levels of sodium pentobarbital that dogs might receive through their food are unlikely to cause any health problems, according to an FDA study.nnPentobarbital is an anesthetizing drug used for dogs and other animals, such as horses and cattle. Because it is also widely used for humane euthanasia of dogs, cats and other animals, the most likely way that pentobarbital could get into dog food would be in rendered animal products. Rendered products come from a process that converts animal tissues to feed ingredients.'nnThis is just one of the many things that you may or may not be aware of. But let's face it this is crazy enough without any other reason.nnSo start checking out your dogs food and encourage others to do the same. Our pets are getting more diseases than ever before and it's about time we put our foot down and start taking responsibility when it comes to their food.nnThere's a lot of resources out there to help you make the decision about the best food to feed your dog.nnn
