Cooperative board games enable players to work for a certain objective that could either be against another set of players or against the game. These games emphasizes on team cooperation, which means winning or losing as a team, rather than individual competition. Playing in Two Player Board Games

There are board games that are made exclusively for two individuals to play. These board games are suitably created for playing together with your wife, friend, or companion. One of these games is the Abalone, which is a strategy game played using fourteen marbles for each player and set in a hexagonal board with 61 spaces. The game is played by driving the opponent’s marbles out of the game board. The Chinese Checkers, played on a star shaped game board, has an objective of moving one’s pieces across the opposite side of the game board. The Othello is a game played on an 8 row and 8 column board also with two sets of pieces and its goal of retaining the most number of pieces at the end of the game. Alternatives of games that can be played by two players are Suguroku, Stratego, Kamisado, Obsession, Backgammon, Plateau, Cross and Circle, Downfall, and Checkers.

Board Games Employing Physical Aptitudes

Board games of Physical Skills or also known as dexterity games are those that need coordination, physical, and mental abilities to dominate the game. They put the players on challenge since they need good judgment, nimbleness, and coordination. Examples of these games include Crokinole, an almost 140 year old game developed in Canada by Eckhardt Wettlaufer. The Crokinole is a fusion of German, East Indian, French, and English games comprises of checker sized disks and board with rings relating to its equivalent points. In the game, which is played by two teams and each team consists of two to four players, the checker sized disks are tapped or flipped from the outer edge of the gaming board and with the intention of hitting the board’s center but to hit the opponents disks that are already on the board otherwise the turn is considered foul. Enjoyment with Children’s Board Games

Children have innate instinct to play that is why there are board games are created to suit every kid’s preference and ability. It is a great way to have fun with and get together with the entire family. These games are good for inculcating sportsmanship as well as good and friendly competition among children. Board games are also good ways to eliminate boredom be it a cold winter day, a bad weather, or just simply staying indoors. Majority of children’s board games are simple to play and does not require too much analysis, counting, and reading but relies mostly on luck. One good example is the Candy Land, one of the first children’s board game which was released in 1949 and is a simple race game. Some choices of children’s board games are the Princess and the Pea, Chutes and Ladders, Pirates on the High, Walt Disney’s Peter Pan, Scooby Doo Gold Rush, Sleeping Beauty, Uncle Wiggily, and Snakes and Ladders.
