To win the game, the main mechanic is using deductive reasoning. The two expansive categories of deduction board games are investigation deductive game, a themed game and the abstract deductive game, a non-themed game. The mastermind, an abstract deductive game, is played by two which one makes the code while the other breaks it. The code maker pins up pegs on the game board in a specific pattern and the objective of the game is for the code breaker to guess the pattern of the colored pegs. The Cluedo is a definite example of an investigation deductive game with a murder scene setting where players get the role of a certain character and use logical reasoning to identify the person responsible for the crime. Other deduction board games include the Mystery Mansion, Coda and Black Box. Brain Busting Word Board Games Several board games that revolve around words including word search types, crossword puzzle types, bluff word games, and others belong to the word board games genre. Among the many board games, Scrabble is the most amusing and played by many from different parts of the globe. Twenty nine different language versions of this game had been created and are sold in 121 countries. Each 2-4 players are given letter tiles which have values and are used to form words across and down similar to crossword puzzle on a game board with 15-by-15 grid of cells which only holds one tile. The order of the game is determined before the game starts when each player draws individual letters, the ones closest to the letter “A” goes first and then the game continues in a sequences manner. The words formed should be acceptable and should exist in a typical dictionary of whichever language is used. Earning the most possible points than the opponent is every player’s objective of winning. Mumble-Jumble, Acronymble, Alfapet, and The Da Vinci Code are among the other word board game alternatives. The Strategic Game of Chess Chess is one of the oldest board games and can only accommodate two players. The objective of the game is to eliminate the opponent’s king piece where it has no chance of moving or subduing an enemy piece without getting eliminated. The game consists of an 8 by 8 checkered game board with a total of 64 squares. Each player has a set of eight pawns, two rooks, two bishops, two knights, one king, and one queen a total of 16 pieces for every player. The players take alternate turns in moving their pieces and it should be noted that only one piece can be moved at a time with an exception on castling where movements of two pieces are allowed. It is a practice that the players with light colored pieces make the opening move and the corresponding piece can land on an empty square or on an enemy occupied provided that the piece can capture the opponent’s.
