A Good Bed is worth the Money
| When we first got married and furnished our first little house, a tiny terraced cottage in Puckeridge which is a village in East Anglia, we were extremely strapped for cash. Everything we had we had spent on a deposit for the house and on a few furnishings. The furnishings were bought primarily on cost rather than comfort or style, but we were pleased to have them and proud of our new home. Although the bed was just about the cheapest we could find, we hardly noticed that it was not the most comfortable bed in the world, and I had certainly slept on other beds and floors that were far less comfortable. After a few years passed by and we had moved home a larger one in the same village there was more money around so we decided to upgrade our bed. It was quite difficult choosing the right bed, because then it was just the price, but now it was the best bed for a reasonable amount of money. We investigated a variety of different types of beds, including classic bedsteads, slatted beds and divans. Then there was the mattress choice with the various construction options of springs or foam, then how many springs or what type of foam. We toured a number of bed shops and tried out a large number of beds. Then we just spotted one that we both liked. It was very expensive, at least for us, but it was really stylish and looked cool. We chose a king size with the best mattress we could afford, well, more than we could afford, but it was a great mattress. It was worth it. We still have that bed and every night we appreciate how comfortable it is. Because of its structure if one of us moves around in the bed it does not affect the other so we do not disturb each other and we both sleep far better. We were happy with our first bed, but that was before we discovered the comfort of the new one. It has proven to be one of our best buys. |
