How you can incorporate exercise into your day

In a day and age where most people work nine-to-five jobs, many worry there is not enough time to incorporate exercise into the day. In fact, it is actually quite easy. By walking or cycling to work you are exercising your body, you could find time for gyms in the evening, and even at work itself, there are several possibilities for exercise.

Try starting your day with exercise. If you live within good distance of your workplace, you could cycle to work. This will help you get exercise and boost your energy, ready for the working day. Cycling to and from work is an increasingly popular activity, especially in hectic city areas like London, which has specially-mapped cycle roots and lanes on the road. The benefits of cycling include the stamina it provides as well as the concentration, setting your mind for the working day.

A form of exercise open to everyone is walking. You could be willing to walk to work if you do not fancy cycling. You will need to start your day earlier but this will provide you with the correct exercise without interrupting your working day in any way. In your lunch hour you may want to take a walk, or have a walking buddy to provide you with both incentive and also to get someone else to undertake exercise. Walking gives you cardio fitness and strengthens your leg muscles. Even if you do not walk to work, if you go to the gym in the evenings you may want to use treadmills, which allows you to control the pace of your walking exercise. Walking, therefore, can easily be incorporated into your day as a form of exercise.

The end of the working day may leave you feeling as though you have not got enough energy to exercise, or you haven't had enough chance to exercise in the day. Using treadmills, exercise bikes or lifting weights at home train your muscles and is a great alternative to lying on the sofa watching television. Doing the smallest thing is far better than doing nothing at all and you only have to do a little at a time, but can be frequent in terms of exercising every evening, and, as momentum builds, so does your body. You only need to do this for a short time after work, and it still provides good exercise.

You can exercise at work itself too. Simply by taking the stairs rather than the lift you are helping your heart rate. People usually opt for the lift for convenience but by taking the stairs you are gaining valuable exercise without even knowing it and you can try to beat the lift going up!

You can also go to a gym in the evening. People who work during the day tend to go to gyms at this time, as well as weekends. Many gyms now offer all-night access for modern 24-hour lifestyles. Gyms provide a means to get your body strength up, to socialise and also to make you worn out so you can go back home afterwards and relax and get a good night's sleep.

Using a personal trainer is valuable as they give you an incentive to exercise and you can make appointments at your own convenience. They often encourage you to work on your own and make exercise fun. They are not expensive and some gyms even offer personal training sessions as part of membership.

It is easy, therefore, to incorporate exercise into your day you could walk or cycle to and from work, make time in the evening to go to a gym, arrange a session with your personal trainer or do exercises in your own home. There are numerous possibilities, so there is no need to worry about not getting exercise on a daily basis - just try to incorporate some of these activities into your day.
