Electrical Training The Way To Becoming A Skilled Electrician
| Electricians are tradesmen primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wirings. Electricians are trained to oversee the electrical systems of establishments, stationary machines, and other similar equipment. Electricians can also undergo electrical training in order to manage the electric wirings of certain mobile platforms including airplanes, ships, and automobiles. Film industries also employ electricians during motion picture and TV show productions. It is the responsibility of the electricians to design and complete the lighting plan of a production. Since jobs involving electricity involves many risks, electrical jobs are often regulated in order to maintain safety. Most countries require electricians to undergo electrical training, pass certain tests, and obtain a license before they are allowed to get any jobs. A government unit is usually in charge of the regulation of electricians; however, in some areas professional societies are allowed to issue licenses. An electrical training usually starts out with classroom instructions regarding the electrical theories. Classroom instructions include mathematics, blueprint interpretation, and electrical code requirements. The course also covers safety regulations and first aid instructions. In addition, the trainees are also trained in soldering, fire alarm systems, communications, elevators, and cranes. As the course progresses, on-the job training is also introduced. Before being allowed to work on their own, electricians are required to undergo apprenticeship programs. These programs usually last three to five years and are done with a master electricians generally supervising the training, and journeyman electricians directly supervising the trainees. Journeyman electricians are those who were able to complete 2,000 hours of on-the-job training and 144 hours of classroom instructions, and have passed the appropriate licensure examination. Journeyman electricians are qualified to carry out both construction and maintenance work. They have the ability to install electrical systems in different establishments whether commercial, industrial, or residential. Master electricians are responsible for the design of electrical systems. They are responsible for the installation and maintenance of more complex circuitries. To become a master electrician, one must be able to pass a test which is usually given by the local government of each state. One's eligibility to take the exam varies from each state, some states require certain years of experience, others ask for a college degree, while others require both. The continuous need for new establishments and the emergence of new technology have opened up a great number of electrical jobs. In fact, more electrical job openings are expected to come up within the next ten years. An electrical training can provide electricians the proper background; and with the right skills, experience, and expertise, electricians can hold jobs which provide great compensations and incentives. |
