Marketing For Nonprofits And Charity Organizations
| According to Kotler, marketing is the planning, analyzing, controlling and implementing an organization programs in order to bring about voluntary exchanges of values with target markets so as to achieve an organizations objectives. Non profit marketing is the act of marketing a service or a product with no intention of making a monetary gain. Today, nonprofit organizations are marketing their products and services online in order to reach to the public. Nearly all non profit organizations have a website as a way of marketing because internet today is a powerful tool of reaching the people. You will find all the generation through the internet and you can receive donations online. Non profit marketing is just the same as any business marketing because you have to appeal to the people in order to sell your products or services. Non profit and charity organizations number has increased over the years, reducing the financial resources available, making them able to embrace new ways of raising their finances. This is where non-profit marketing comes in. The funding of a non-profit organization depends on the ability to communicate and convince donors to give. Therefore, it is important for non profit organizations to clearly define who they are, show the programs and activities that they run, fine tune their services regularly, measure the needs of its constituents, and show their potential to the donors. When doing non-profit marketing, there are things to do with non-profit public relations that you must observe. First, you will have to ensure that your public relation plan is in accordance with your organization's long term strategies. Secondly, inform your donors, staff and volunteers of your activities. Thirdly, ensure that you have an updated and clean data base of your donors. Fourthly, make sure you have an information resource for the media, have a story or ideas about your activities, build a co-marketing opportunity, take time to look at your organizations program, and have a strategy of how you will deal with any crisis that arises. Non profit marketing also involves nonprofit advertising. People need to know that the non profit organization exists and that is why advertising is important. Spending money for a great cause is as important as spending money for direct services that we receive daily and this is advertising is a way in which non profit organization can reach people and give them information about its importance to the society. Non-profit advertising creates a world in which everyone needs the services of the organization. We have seen ads about eradicating poverty, ending AIDS, curing cancer and donating towards helping people who were affected by a disaster (a good example being hurricane Katrina). These adverts keep people posted and informed about what is being done to solve problems which involve everyone. |
