How Committed Are Your Staff - The Importance of Surveys
| "Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work" (Vince Lombardi, football coach) Within a company, the importance of a team is vital for the success of a business or organization. However a team is made up of individuals all working towards a common goal. In order to achieve as a group, as a team, there needs to be a common determination and drive towards the teams goals and targets. The level of interest one has towards his occupation is referred to as employee engagement, and understanding how committed your staff are, is one of the biggest challenges in management, hence the need of staff surveys. Employee engagement is the level of interest that individuals take in their jobs, their emotional attachment to their vocation. An "engaged employee" is a worker who is interested and enthusiastic about their work, thus the employee works harder in order to further their organization and to contribute to the common goal. In contrast an employee who is not interested or does not care for about their job, clocks in and clocks out without being driven or motivating and in return not motivating others. If too many people like this are in a team then the team will never achieve. In order to maintain a high level of employee engagement staff surveys are necessary. Like M.O.Ts and health check-ups, staff surveys check that staff performance is at an optimum. Staff surveys have become a vital component of team building and recipe for success.
