Get It There In Under An Hour With A Delivery Company

Many business to business orders need to be delivered quickly. Some are so urgent that they need to arrive at their destination in under an hour. Traditional shipping methods will not work for these orders and it is often impractical for companies to hire their own drivers. Companies that need to be able to offer same day shipping for their local business to business orders should hire a delivery company.

Professional delivery drivers handle all sorts of packages during the course of their daily deliveries. Many drivers are trained for bio-hazard handling. It is not uncommon for them to carry coolers packed with blood, tissue samples or urine samples between hospitals and labs. They know how to handle these specimens to prevent spoilage, contamination and spills and the procedures to clean up spills safely should they occur.

The same delivery company may also carry legal documents between lawyers or real estate agents, their clients and courthouses. A courier may stop at a lawyer's office to pick up a legal document. The courier may take it to the lawyer's client to get it signed before delivering it to the courthouse to be filed. Drivers may even carry cash to pay for filing fees or other expenses related to the job and bill the customer back for these expenses later.

Delivery companies also have licensed and insured truck drivers that are capable of picking up and delivering large items that will not fit in the compact car, mini-van or SUV the driver normally uses for his job. These drivers make it possible for refrigeration companies to offer same day delivery of refrigerators to convenience stores and grocery stores who may lose thousands of dollars of product if they cannot get a replacement unit delivered immediately. Many drivers are also forklift certified and can help offload large deliveries at their destination, where the end customer may not have staff trained or equipped to handle the job.

Most courier companies offer various levels of service. Same day deliveries are typically the least expensive. With this type of delivery, a courier is assigned the job and can stop by any time during the day to pick up and drop off any time before close of business that same day. Other options include four-hour, two-hour and one-hour or express deliveries. Faster deliveries usually cost more and are given higher priority than slower service jobs. A delivery company will also often charge by the weight of the package and the distance the driver has to travel.
