| When operating a business it is important that documents and files reach their destinations quickly and safely. Not all documents can be sent through an email due to confidentiality issues. Still other papers must be signed quickly in order for a deal to close or an important legal action to take place. The need to transport precious documentation with speed and accuracy has given rise to same day courier services. These services do not only operate in the industrialized world and many interesting forms of the service have developed. In most industrialized nations, a same day courier will travel by automobile. Sometimes these services are delivered from large style delivery vans or box style trucks. Larger trucks, such as 18 wheelers can also be utilized for the services of same day delivery if the cargo is large or hazardous. In the major cities of the world these services are most often offered by a person on a bicycle. The cyclists will work from a centralized dispatch location where calls are received, but the cyclists themselves do not have to be at the location. They will employ cell phones and the cyclist that is closest to the documentation will choose to take the call. This is an effective and quick method of getting items where they need to go, but the items must be light and easy to carry. The speed at which documents are expected to arrive have caused many cyclists to take risks on their bikes and this has resulted in a number of deaths and injuries. In fact, bicycle courier is one of the more dangerous jobs out there these days. Bicycle messengers from Brooklyn to Bombay have found themselves in an early grave by driving recklessly in an attempt to deliver some papers. These types of services are also employed to deliver animals that cannot be kept alive in long term transport. While baby chicks can live up to a few days in a small box other animals do not fair so well. A box of baby chicks will often include a few extra so as to make up for the few that will undoubtedly arrive dead. Someone ordering chimpanzees to a zoo or lab would not be happy to find a few dead chimps in their box. Thus the need for a same day courier. Another item that needs these services are organs.
