What's in A Motor Club

Motor clubs offer a great way to meet new friends, and show off your car. One of the best resources to find and locate a motor club near you is the internet. As an example, let's take a quick look at the Wigton Motor Club. For those unfamiliar with Wigton, it is a bustling very attractive town in Scotland, right at the centre of the Solway Plain, situated between the Caldbeck Fells and the Solway coast. It has access to plenty of self-catering establishments and several good hotels. And, if you're interested in motorsport, it has a very good club. It's the perfect place too, to show off that classic car you've been working so hard on, and to seek advice about sourcing car parts from pros and semi-pros alike with the same interests as you.

Per the website, Wigton Motor Club organises a range of events, catering for both modern and historic competitors, including a full programme of events such as autotests, production car trials, 12 car rallies, treasure hunts, stage rallies, historic rallies, classic car events and offers a lively social scene. It is a member of the association of North East and Cumbria Car Clubs (ANECC), the Association of West of Scotland Car Clubs and Association of North West Car Clubs. Wigdon members can therefore compete in events from the north of Scotland to the midlands, including virtually any event in the North of England as well.

If you've never participated in a rally before, or a treasure hunt, the experience of solving clues to find the right roads and making it to the next stop in the course cannot be described, it must be experienced. With over 500 members, any Wigdon event is guaranteed to be an action-packed sojourn into fun, in some of the nicest scenery imaginable. Club membership is reasonably priced, costing £14 for individuals and £16 for
families, entitling you to a copy of Start Line every month and discounted entry fees to events. Do two or more of the events and eventually you will save more than your membership fee. Membership runs from January 1st out, and if you join at the Classic Show in August you get the whole of the following year free. Combining Widgon with a self-catering holiday makes eminent sense. Check their website out for events and see if you can plan this year's holiday around some classic car fun!
