| Are you preparing for championship? Set aside all-weather corn hole set then and buy a regular corn hole board and standard corn hole bags, filled with right amount of feed corn. Only those cornhole sets that meet the exact specification, set by the ACA will be given their seal of approval and will be allowed in the tournaments. n According to the American Cornhole Association or the ACA the measurement of each corn hole board should be 48"X24" in rectangular shape and made of half-inch plywood. The hole should be six inches in diameters and centered nine inches from the top and twelve inches from each side of the edge. The face of the cornhole board should be two inches elevated from bottom and be at a ninety-degree angle to the deck face. The back of the board should be twelve inches elevated and at a ninety-degree angle to the deck face. The sides of the board should b covered with wooden boards so that the cornhole bags do not slide in. The surface of the board should be smooth and sanded without a blemish and should have been painted with high gloss latex paint.n nFor personal use and family fun the cornhole boards can be made in smaller sizes. If you are holidaying with your family and want to have some fun or even go for a picnic then the small personalized board game is a very good entertainment tool. They are often of the size such that they can easily fit in the boot of the car. They are usually made of plastic and are given a smooth texture. The game that is played with the plastic cornhole board is quite different from that played with the wooden board. The conventional wooden board corn hole game is much more fun to play than their modern versions. nThe bags too are generally made as per specification except on two counts:no Instead of duck canvas as specified by the ACA, weatherproof cloths are used.no Instead of filling them with feed corn, plastic palettes are used.nOtherwise, they are generally 6"X6" in size and weigh between 14 and 16 ounces as specified by ACA. nIf you want to participate in corntoss championship then you will have to use the cornhole sets that are approved by the ACA. The cornhole boards that are approved by the ACA have the seal of approval on the boards. But if you want to play the game with your family members just for the fun of it then you can use the all weather cornhole sets. These sets are easy to use and maintain and can be easily carried from one place to another. Children can specially benefit from the corn toss games. nA good combination of alertness of the brain and the motor skills are required to play the corntoss game. It is not an easy task to pitch a bag that measures 6" x 6" into a hole of six inches diameter. The other condition is that the person cannot lose balance after pitching the bag form the pitching line or area. The pitching area is almost 33 feet from the cornhole board. nAnother popular version of the corntoss game is the washers game. It is said that both the games have originated from the same game in distant past. In corntoss game and washers game the pitching elements are corntoss bags and washers respectively. The corntoss bags are usually filled with feed corn of the right quantity. The washer boxes are kept at a distance of 20 feet from the pitching line. The washers that are pitched are generally made of rust proof iron. The washers have 2.5" outside diameter and a 1" inside diameter. The washer boxes measures 14"x 14"x4" in size with a 4" PVC cup set in the middle. If the player is able to pitch the washer into the hole then he scores three points. In case the washer falls inside the box even if not in the hole then the player scores one point and if the washer falls outside the box then the score is zero. nThe scoring system of the corntoss game is similar to that of the washers game. Another name of the corntoss game is cornhole game. In places where corn was not available the game modified as bean toss game wherein the pitching bags had beans instead of corn in them. Washers game is also known by many names such as washer toss, washer pitching, Texas horseshoes, washoes etc. it is to mention that these toss games are more popular in North America than the other continents. n n |
