Calibre Signs Reports LED Signs Now Outsell Neon Signs For Commercial Advertising

Calibre Signs, (http://www.calibresigns.com), an Ontario sign company that designs and manufactures a wide range of custom sign products, including LED signs for many major franchise businesses, reports that due to several factors their customers are now choosing LED signs as a smart alternative to the more traditional neon sign to effectively advertise their businesses.

"We are now designing and manufacturing more LED signs than neon signs for our customers," states Peter Lapoussis, co- owner of Calibre Sign. "Both neon signs and LED signs are visually very appealing and are extremely effective in drawing customer attention. They both add interest to signboards and are visible from a considerable distance. Both sign types are very versatile and can be adapted to suit the unique needs of any business. However, there are some important differences between LED signs and neon signs that make a LED sign the best choice for many businesses today."

When comparing LED versus neon signs, affordability, practicality and the environment are major considerations. Purchasing a LED sign is not initially much cheaper than a neon sign. However, over the life of the product, LED signs are significantly less expensive to operate and maintain. Neon signs require more maintenance than LED signs. They are harder to clean than LED signs and will eventually have to be refilled with gas. LED signs have a much longer life and do not have to be replaced until after approximately 100,000 hours of use. LED signs are much cheaper to operate because they use significantly less electricity than neon signs, reducing energy consumption and hydro bills. Also neon signs are comprised of compressed neon or other inert gases which could potentially leak toxins such as argon and mercury into the environment.

To survive in today's economy, most businesses have to keep a close watch on expenditures. While business experts will tell you that advertising is the one place that a company should never skimp, there are smart ways to be more economical. When choosing electronic company signage, businesses need to consider factors beyond the initial price of the signage such as how much the signs will cost in the future, including energy costs, product life, replacement costs, as well as minimum environmental impact.

"When you take into consideration all the advantage that LED signs offer over neon signs, it is easy to see why we feel that they are the way of the future.  LED signs provide businesses with a budget-friendly way to catch the eye and attract customers. We firmly believe that effective advertising is the key to success and that bright lights and vibrant colors are guaranteed to capture a consumer's attention," adds Lapoussis.
